Easy and Inexpensive DIY Cupcake Stand for a Wedding or Baby Shower
Recently, a dear friend of mine hosted a baby shower, and I volunteered to make cupcakes. While I may not be a professional baker, I do enjoy baking quite a bit. I gathered all the necessary ingredients, carefully selected whimsical toppers, and even picked up some cupcake carriers from the dollar store, which worked exceptionally well. However, amid the preparation, I realized I needed a way to display the cupcakes. Challenge accepted. I had one cupcake holder that could hold about 24 cupcakes, but I was making nearly 70. Anyway, constructing this stand is really not difficult at all. I stumbled upon an old heavy-duty box from Costco that we typically have lying around in our garage. In essence, you can use virtually anything, and if you prefer, you can stack multiple boxes. In my case, this box turned out to be a great size, accommodating 15 cupcakes on top and around 25 around the perimeter, with a double layer at the front.
- Find a sturdy box that you’d like to use. Ensure it’s made of firm cardboard to support the weight of multiple cupcakes.
- Select some wrapping paper or tissue paper that appeals to you. I went with a thick metallic gold tissue paper that complemented the gift baskets. I used a double layer to ensure the logo underneath was concealed. Wrap it just like you would a gift, making sure to hide any tape on the bottom of the box.
- That’s all there is to it! Just be careful while transporting it to avoid ripping the wrapping!
